Welcome to Life to Morrowind.
This is a community project aimed at creating a better base version of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The overall goal is to create a mod which will totally convert Morrowind and its two expansions so that they will have better meshes, textures, animations, dialogue, quests, and many other improvements.
This website allows any member of the Morrowind community to add to this project. Even if you just wish to donate a couple of new faces or dialogue for one NPC, that is welcomed and appreciated. Using the sidebar to the left you can access the various parts of the project to see what has been completed, and what still needs to be done.

I feel that I should probably make sure everyone knows where this project is at the moment. Basically, it is dead. I only ever received a couple of serious offers of help for this project, and it is obviously far more than two people could do by themselves. I did get permission from basically every modder alive to use their work in LtM, but as for actual LtM team members... Anyway, it has now been around three months since Oblivion was released, and I haven't even finished it yet. That might give you an idea of how little time I've had to devote to The Elder Scrolls. At the moment, in my mind, I have two unfinished Morrowind mods: The Unofficial Morrowind Patch, and LtM: Seyda Neen. I will not be working on anything else for Morrowind. As for those two, they may never be finished.
There may be a time in the future where I have some free time (aka, I need a break from everything else I'm doing) in which I might finish them. But that is very unlikely for LtM: Seyda Neen. So it is best that you consider my Morrowind projects dead from this moment on.

I seem to delay things a lot. Probably because I can never make up my mind (that and because I got knifed by a doctor and now have stitches). Anyway, I've decided to alter my plans slightly which will mean the release of the first section of LtM will not be for another couple of weeks. After looking through everything I realised Seyda Neen is close to complete, so I might as well finish it and release it. It will have full schedules for the NPCs, unique dialogue for all the NPCs, a bunch (about three dozen I think) new NPCs with dialogue, two possible relationships (three if you include one-night stands), various ships arriving every now and then, and a bunch of other stuff. I figure it is a good way to show what plans I had for LtM. With my Oblivion mods I doubt I will ever be able to spread it all over Vvardenfell, but one town is better than none.

Well, I've finally decided to do something about this project. At the moment, when I think about this project, I get a sense of dread. When making a mod the feeling you always want to get is one of fun, so this is not a good thing. Because of this I'm going to scale my own contributions to the project down a lot, and since this is a team of one currently, that means that most of LtM won't be getting worked on.
Having all the aspects of Morrowind improved would be a good thing, so if you wish to take over a segment of the project (however small) then you can do that. At the moment I'm going to focus on two things:
1 - Giving single NPCs unique dialogue and lives. By this I mean I'll give a single NPC (or maybe a group of NPCs) individual dialogue, lives, maybe schedules, and release a mod with the changes. Breathing life into Morrowind one bit at a time, and letting people play with the changes immediately instead of waiting forever.
2 - Creating generic quests. Rewriting an entire guild structure without changing the entire game (as LtM would have done) is far more complicated than I want to deal with at the moment. So I will create quests that don't fit into the current guild systems. They may be for a random NPC in Sadrith Mora, or for the Fighter's Guild in Balmora, but they will be standalone quests. This doesn't mean simple "Fetch the ingredient" quests, but I can put in nice, long quests.
So, LtM isn't dead. But for more to be done than I am willing to do others will need to take charge. Oblivion is around the corner, and I have some large mods planned and designed for it, as well as some smaller ones, and I feel the need to look to the future now. But for now, I'll be creating mods for Morrowind. I'll see how much I can cut out of LtM and release within the week.

Ok, as you may have noticed there hasn't been any progress the last couple of months. The reason for this is my life has gotten very busy, and I have just had no time for Morrowind. I'm not going to cancel the project, but expect this lull in activity to continue for another month or two. I'm hoping to have time to work on it again soon.

I'm going to be updating this site a little in the near future. Among the improvements will be a better explanation of each section (as currently dialogue, for example, has pages and pages of useless information which is just bad). Also, I'll be adding a submission form, which will be able to accept various things, such as faces or dialogue, and you will also be able to add links to larger things via the form.

Well, things are still progressing. Just thought I'd say that if you ever have any questions or want to discuss LtM, you can do so at the LtM Forums or also at the LtM Chat. I'll stay logged into the chat room whenever possible, and check the forums frequently.

Things are progressing. Slowly, but they are progressing. I'm working on so many different areas at the moment that each area is getting only a little done with it. Wizthis is doing well in the face department. Appointing him was definately a good idea, as it means a lot more progress than I could do on my own. If anyone wants to contribute their time to seeking out things LtM could use in a certain area, then let me know and I might give you a shiny deputy star too.
Anyway, the website has been getting updated slowly, both with new features and with new content. A number of modders have been contacted about using some of their work in LtM, and so far I haven't received a 'no' in reply. The website's NPC database is also slowly being completed, now with around 10% of the NPCs details and (original) faces entered (each NPC takes approximately 1 minute, and there are more than 3000 NPCs, so it takes a while). Anyway, if you wish to help with the project, by assisting in putting it together, donating some of your work, or even by giving us a general "Use any of my mods", let me know.

Well, I've roped in my first victim... er... permanent deputy-like person (there should be star badges for them to wear). Wizthis has been very helpful in the past few days, and has shown great interest in the project, so I've invited him to be the Head of Heads... er... that sounds weird. The NPC Faces Director. He will oversee the new faces for the NPCs in the game. I have a feeling he will contribute a lot more to the project than that, including keeping me in line when I go silly like the creator of Fable (which I was actually already in danger of doing).
More such positions will be available for those who wish to dedicate their time to LtM. Idealically, there will be several people in charge of each section, perhaps one overall administrator per section and a couple others to help them out. As well as the many talented modders submitting their work. If you wish to help out, just let me know.

The very first improvement has been added. GhostNull has given permission for his reflective silverware to be used in LtM. You can view it in the Tableware category in the Misc Objects section.
I of course will not be updating the news page everytime something is added, but I thought the first deserved a mention.

Website opened to the public. It is still very unfinished, but it is at the point where it can start being used. Everyone will need to ignore the non-existant images for now. It seems there are a lot of things to take pictures of, and I've only done a fraction of them so far.
